Scripture and Memorization

We study God’s word at Community Bible Study.  What I like best about this program is that my son and I are studying the same lesson.   It is an awesome feeling to find myself having deep theological discussions with my child, then connect it to our situation either personally or impersonally via the news.   To learn more about CBS, visit http://www.communitybiblestudy.org.

In addition to CBS, my son participated in AWANA from grades 2nd-6th.  The verses from the last book he worked on are listed below.  The following are ways we work at memorizing God’s word:

To memorize or review, text is copied into a typing test, and spoken while typed.   The FREE typing program we use is www.speedtypingonline.com/typing-test.  For more information on typing programs and resources for memorization mastery, visit TYPING filed under MY REFERENCE DESK.

If we do not know how to pronounce a word, then it is copied into http://www.oddcast.com/home/demos/tts/tts_example.php.  This FREE program will read about two sentences in a variety of accents and languages.

If we do not understand the meaning of a verse, then we look at several translations of that verse to see words that other translators used.  We also listen to the chapter the verse is in.  For a very confusing verse, we listen to a pastor’s sermon at http://www.blueletterbible.org.  Answers to unanswered questions there is a radio ministry devoted to this on KWAVE 107.9 FM.   The program is on Monday-Friday from 3pm-4pm.  We could either call in our question or send a message via  http://www.kwve.com or https://www.facebook.com/PastorsPerspective.
