Summer Strings Camp — Register by May 31

MUSICA! presents… The Summer Strings Academy for Violin, Viola, ‘Cello and String Bass. Classes will be held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, June 9-27.  Level I will meet at 12:30-1:30 pm and Level II will meet at 2:30-4:30 pm.

These classes will meet at the Esplanade Arts Center, 2181 West Esplanade Avenue, San Jacinto.  To sign up, please find the application form at http://www.makingmusica.org.  The cost of this programs is:  Level I $80-110 (total 12 hours) and Level II $150-210 (total 24 hours) for the 3 weeks.

Summer Strings Academy an extension of summer strings begun in 1998.  This program offers one to two hours of daily instruction for students of any age  from beginners  to advanced players for three weeks in June  four days a week.  The program includes beginning instruction as well as intermediate  and advanced level classes in technique, large ensemble and sectionals and chamber music. Registration fees are on a sliding scale and there are scholarships available.

June 9-27 Mon,Tues & Thurs, Fri Level I 12:30-1:30 pm Level II 2:30-4:30 pm
Teachers include: John Brannon, Anna Ancheta, Becky Long
Level I For beginning players of any age.
Including Students with no training at all & students with 1-2 years of classroom instruction
Posture/position for good tone production, accurate pitch & comfort in playing
Note and rhythm skills
Playing by ear and with notes – solo and in ensemble. Personalized attention

Level II For intermediate to advanced players of any age
Able to read and play in positions, perform two octave scales in four keys
Vibrato
Extended scales and keys
Positions and fingerings
Special bowing and reading techniques for advanced repertoire
Preparation for high school, college & community orchestra music
Guest teachers to provide master classes in special topics
How to practice and listen effectively
Alternative bow techniques for jazz, pop, country style
Improv and jam sessions: jazz, bluegrass and classical
