Amazing Arthropods
6 to 8 years old
11:00 am   12:00 pm   2:30 pm
Students uncover how insects and arachnids compare to each other and relate to the environment they live in.  The investigation will continue with a close encounter with several of the arthropods from Kidspace’s live collection.

Chumash Cave Painting

11:00 am   12:00 pm   2:30 pm
Students decipher what the Chumash were trying to communicate through their cave paintings.  They will investigate how these Native Americans lived and produced cave paintings using natural materials. Students will take what they’ve learned and crush rocks to make their own paint, and conclude the program by making their own “cave paintings”.

Physics Transformed
9 to 12 years old
11:00 am   12:00 pm   2:30 pm
The exhibits in the Galvin Physics Forest bring Newton’s Three Laws of Motion to life.  Students will learn how energy is transformed from potential energy to kinetic energy, experience the power of air pressure, observe resonance frequency and even interact with simple machines to understand the concept of mechanical advantage.
