Contest is open only to legal residents of the United States who are between the ages of 6 and 14 on October 31, 2012. The First Place Prize is a 16.1-megapixel digital camera; an 8GB memory card; a copy of the books National Geographic Kids Almanac 2013, Weird But True 4, Everything Dogs, and Ultimate Weird But True.
The United States International Photo Contest For Kids begins August 1, 2012, and ends October 31, 2012). All Mail-in Entries must be postmarked by October 31, 2012, and received by November 7, 2012. Online Entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Daylight Time) on October 31, 2012. Mail-in Entries and Online Entries shall be referred to herein as â€œEntriesâ€ collectively. Entries become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned or acknowledged. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these official rules (â€œOfficial Rulesâ€). This is a skill-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winners.

First and Second Place Winners for this U.S. contest will win cameras and books. Then the four First Place Winners will compete against other First Place Winners from international National Geographic photography contests.
The photographer of best photo will win the Grand Prize in the worldwide contest–a trip to Washington, D.C.
