Pow Wow (Cabazon) — September 28

The Morongo Band of Mission Indians’ Pow Wow is on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 7:30 PM at 49750 Seminole Drive, Cabazon.

I friend of mine recommends that you arrive an hour early to have time to have dinner, shop the tents, and find a seat for the pow wow.   She says, “This is an amazing must see event. Indian tacos are sold if you want to have dinner there…and they are delicious!  Cost for taco is $5-$7.  There will be tents set up selling different wares.”

Dancing begins at 7:45 p.m.

Pow Wows are celebrations of Native American culture and heritage. Originally, they were held in the spring to welcome the new beginnings of life. It was a time when people gathered together to visit with family, to sing, dance, gamble and to renew old friendships and make new ones. In this setting, young people had the opportunity to meet and court.
