The following is from http://temeculastemclub.com:
We are excited for the upcoming 2012/13 year! We’ll be incorporating lots of fun invention challenges to spark our member’s interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). They’ll learn how the design process helps them with creative problem solving and what inventing is all about. This will be a fabulous addition to the Roots & Shoots and Kids for Peace service learning projects.
Along with our current favorites we are looking forward to learning about and creating:
Hover Crafts, Vortex Cannons, Jitterbugs, Mousetrap Cars, Rooftop Gardens, Pinball Party, Newton’s Law, Rockets and much much more!
Email us at TemeculaSTEM@gmail.com for more information or to be added to our interest list. We are accepting members between the ages of 9-11 (typically homeschoolers).
Registration costs for the year are $120. Starting September 8th, meetings will be held in French Valley and are scheduled for Saturdays, twice monthly, from 9:30-noon.
Take a Look at the fun we had Last Year (2011/12)
Today we made our big announcement. Next year we will be expanding our meetings to include STEM. The favorite activities of our members have always been those rooted in hands-on science. STEM (Science,Technology, Engineering, and Math) is innovation, invention, and creativity at its best. Members will learn how the design process helps them with creative problem solving and what inventing is all about. As kids learn to think like inventors, they’ll grow confident in their abilities, and have tons of FUN 🙂 To kick off this new direction the kids had a sweet competition. We built towers using candy and toothpicks.
